The collection contains correspondence from James B. McNamara, from San Quentin Prison, with Philip B. Grosser, after being convicted of the 1910 dynamiting of Los Angeles Times building. Also, Grosser's correspondence with union leader James H. Maurer and A.J. Muste; correspondence about the case of James Phillips, fighting deportation to Russia in 1927 after his prison discharge in 1922.
